Welcome to the Danish Society for Matrix Biology!

The Danish Society for Matrix Biology (DSMB) is a network for advancing the science of connective tissue, extracellular matrix biology and related subjects. The DSMB arranges seminars, lectures, discussion groups, conferences, symposia, and related networking events for scientists in the field. The DSMB is affiliated with the umbrella society for Danish life science societies, the Danish Biochemical Society. 

At our AGM in October 2023, members of the DSMB unanimously voted to join the Danish Biochemical Society (Dansk Biokemisk Forening). The Danish Biochemical Society is an umbrella society for Danish life science societies. Read more and join us!

Kevin Baker awarded the 2026 Dick Heinegård European Young Investigator Award

Congratulations to the DSMB nominee Dr Kevin Baker, who was selected winner of the Dick Heinegård European Young Investigator Award at the Matrix Biology Europe 2026 meeting in Oulu, Finland. The award recognises outstanding contributions from early-career researchers advancing the field of extracellular matrix biology.

    Join us for a special seminar by Senior Lecturer Dr Joan Chang from Manchester Cell-Matrix Centre, University of Manchester, UK.

    In this seminar, “Circadian rhythms, extracellular matrix, and how this impacts repair response?” Dr. Chang will discuss discuss how circadian rhythms regulate collagen-I production, deposition and remodelling, and how these processes influence tissue repair and disease. Drawing on her latest work, she will explore the dynamic nature of the extracellular matrix, including the role of endocytic recycling in collagen fibrillogenesis and how interactions between immune cells and fibroblasts can modulate circadian collagen deposition.

    Event co-hosted by the Institute of Sports Medicine Copenhagen.
